reboot computer yet? Try uninstalling the drivers and then reinstall the drivers again. Good luck.

Also try and clean the battery terminals on the mouse. Any chance that your new batteries are really old or not putting out the right voltage???

You'll need to provide some more information for us to help. Specifically, what brand/model mouse are you using and what type of computer are you using? It may be the batteries don't have enough charge or the mouse is not synchronized with the base so the signal is not strong enough.

Your mouse may be too far from the pickup.
Also I think they use radio frequencies so try reorienting the pickup (if the polarization is wrong).
