The SurfControl option is a plugin to the Firewall's web proxy. It examines all outbound web traffic passing through the firewall. so, all we have to do is access the website without using the hostname.

Most intranets are setup not to allow anyone internet access without going through the proxy, it's the only way out, that way they can control who can get out and what they can do. There is a setting in IE under Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings. This is where the proxy server information is set.

You really can't get past it without getting fired or expelled (depending on whether you are trying from work or school).
