Not necessarily! It depends on many factors, of course if you are still on a 486 you may want to think on upgrade. Bandwidth is the most important (dial-up will definitely put a damper on your surfing on the modern websites), followed by the webside you are visiting and their servers and local network, followed by what you are downloading, followed by your local network (whether cable, DSL, I'm talking from your modem to your PC)followed by your hardware stuff. You can download many bandwidth testers from the Internet, like dslreports.com that can help. If all tests OK, than you may want to start checking your configurations before you jump into a new computer, though, that's exciting......

Internal dial up modems use your computer processor and can drag your performance down. In that situation, a faster processor would help. Also DSL and cable require a minimum speed, but I think all modern processors exceed that.

Not hugely no.

It will however help if you are running any java or siebel based apps that run over the internet that are processor intensive. It will also help if you have multiple browse windows/apps open and swap between them quite often.

Upgrading your connection speed though is far more critical than upgrading your processor speed.

no,a pc with a pentium core duo will be no faster than a p.c with a pentium 2,its down to other factors such as 1.connection speed 2.network traffic 3.router 4local problems(such as spyware infection on your p.c)
i suppose adding extra memory(ram) would be a better option as this would help online applications open and close faster but as for the actual connections speed, its like i explained before
good luck

yes it will, but if you want fast internet the most important thing it the type of connection you have, broadband is by far the fastest so in conclusion you do need a computer with a decent processor but its not for example going to speed up dial-up internet access that mutch

Probably not, 99% of your Internet speed is determined by your connection (dialup, DSL, Cable, etc.). Your processor can make a difference if it is VERY slow, like 100mhz and below. If you have dialup, think about switching to broadband, you'll be glad you did.

Your processor only affects how fast the page loads once that info is at your computer. It doesn't affect how fast the info comes from your ISP.
So it does to a very minimal degree.

RAM and connection speed play large role. Add RAM load internet application quickly. Increase connection speed makes surfing faster.

No, fast processor has nothing to do with Internet. It depends on the type of connection you have (e.g. dialup, DSL or etc.).

Hope that helps!
