How would you say "hanging out" as in to "hang out with someone" in Arabic? Can the word "براء" be used? Once someone suggested (something) bara' to me but I can't really remember what the first word was, to complete the phrase hang out. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks!

bara means 'outside/out'

so you could say:
khalee inrooh bara (let's go outside/out)

I'm not sure what 'hanging out' specifically would be - I'm not very good at slang arabic =)

Well
1*you just miss spelled the word out " barra" without ( ' ) at the end .
2*the Arabic for that is بره .but notice that this in colloquial ..OK
3*" 'akhrog ma'a ________" = to hang out with ____________"
in Arabic we don't use "out" because the verb " 'akhrog " in Arabic includes the concept of being out doors.

It's a part of my major is to teach Arabic as a second language .I'm studying Linguistics& phonetics. If you need aby help any time ,just contact me &I'll be there.
Good luck
