The first thing to try is to stop the drinking. Alcohol is a depressant. See if your depression lifts after a while after quitting the drinking. Get help to quit if you have to. Use a counselor, trusted friend or family member or try a group like AA. If your depression doesn't lift there are natural remedies you can try but try to stop the drinking first.. The drinking could very well be causing the depression. Good luck.

First, alcohol is a depressant and is adding to your problem. Quit drinking; if you need help try AA. Depression, if severe, may be the result of chemical imbalances in the brain. In that case, you may be best served with medication to restore the balance.
If the depression is mild it may be effective to change routines, spend more time in the light (especially sunlight), and find someone you can talk with. If the depression has been going on for three months or more, see a professional therapist for guidance on the best way to treat the disease.

My dear friend, I drank for 12 years a quart of Scotch ever day, one night or morning when I woke up I did not even know where I was. At that time I said Lord is there any hope for me and when I open my Bible the first thing I read was get in a secret place and ask GOD to help you in secret and he will reword you openly. I went into my closet and prayed and said GOD I don't know how to stop and don't have control to stop this madness will you please for give me and I commit this into your hands. I walked out of the closet and do not drink or do drugs after 12 years I can say with complete truth I can drink a glass of wine or try to drink a beer and can not finish GOD has taken away my dependence of all. Depression comes from drugs and alcohol. Ask GOD in secret and expect Him to help you and he will, it is written, Pray in a secret place and He will reward you openly. GOD Bless you, Love your brother in Christ Jesus.

drinking is a huge add on to depression
when you drink your blood sugar drops
and it can make you feel depressed
if you want help with out drugs... you really must quit the drinking and take some vitimins .. ask at the health food store which are recommended for depression...
I know people in my practice that take them and it does work..but you must stay off the booze... cause one works against the other

Hi,
There's no need for you to try to control your depression. What you have to do is to discover the cause of your depression; If you discover that cause, you will then reach the first step of your healing. By understanding the very reason, you will be set free from this sad state. But do not fight. Normally the cause of depression never comes from outside, it is INDEED within your own heart. If your heart changes, the state of depression will automatically change.
Take care!

Dr Johathan Wright (of Tahoma clinic) says most everyone is deficient in Lithium--and that he has been taking 5 mg/day for about 20 years. "B" vitamin deficiency aggravates the problem. If you can get some exercise, it might help. Melatonin at night might help sleeping. Bright lights early in the morning might help if SAD is part of the problem.

Drinking worsens depression like crazy -- if not while you're drunk, then the next day. I find that if I get intoxicted, the next day I'm almost always very depressed and having anxiety issues.

Alcohol is a severe depressant. I would suggest getting off the alcohol and see a doctor for some assistance and anti depressants.
