You will find that most cars wire harnesses are usually prewired for speakers, rear windshield wipers, etc. It is cheaper to make one harness for everthing than specialty harnesses. Then at the auto plant they only hook up what is necessary. Of course, you can hook up the rear speakers. Then your radio should have some kind of rear speaker control. Say your radio came with only front speaker controls (NOT TRUE now, just used for an example), and you decided to change it to a radio with rear speaker control. Then all you would do is find out which wire in the back where the radio is, is the rear speaker wires and you are good to go. Like I said, the optional equipment wires are generally there.
