Sounds like you may have a dirty carb. or injectors.Go to an auto parts store and get some Lucas gas treatment for carb/injector..follow the instructions on the bottle for the amount to add to the gas tank and dump it in. Let it sit for awhile and try to start the engine. It should start after a few tries. It's really good stuff. Also, clean the throttle body out with carburetor or throttle body cleaner, that works wonders.

i would check fluids,ie. oil, coolant, for cross contamination. possible a head gasket popped. check oil for milky light color, this would indicate water (antifreeze) in the oil. and vice-versa for the coolant. you can also buy what is called a "noid" light at the parts store to see if the injectors are actually firing for a couple of bucks, could be a computer problem. for this old of a car should be 50 bucks or so at a yard if needed

First replace the battery with a clean one if that is better than 4 years previous. The cranking voltage would desire to be better than 9.6 volts to means the gas pump, ignition and computing gadget to start the engine.
