My dad has a 95 DX Civic and He wants me to get a 93-95 modle to, I want a little bit newer one. He does all the work on our cars and always gets the parts w/ unlimited warrenties. I was wondering if some of those parts on his 95 would be good on a 96 or newer? Like belts, radiator, pumps, and any other parts?

Honda went from a 1.5L to a 1.6L engine between 95 and 96.

I would ask my dad but he's not a machanic and he insists that they are not interchangable.

I drive a 1996 Civic 4door LX auto ... I just Put a turbo in it, Running only 3 psi for now --- To answer your question there are a lot of parts that will fit civics from 1988 to 1998 or around there, . To start the ONLY BIG difference is the emissions control on the cars in 1996 all cars in the US had to be equipped with the new style OBD2 computers. this is one thing that is not compatible. BUT as far as the manifolds intake and exhaust the sizes are the same the. the mounts are the same. You could take a 1995 motor and put it into a 1996 and vice versa. with the Swap of the Computers. the main differences in the civic cars is the differences in the Si to the others, and VTEC. You can take a stock 1996 civic with the D16Y7 motor and put a VTEC head on it with the computer from a VTEC car Or other larger heads,(also know as a Frankenstein swap)

To answer your main Question YES there are a LOT of things you can use in both a 1995 and a 1996-1998

by the way I an a Mechanic at 21 I primarily work on big trucks, Mack, International, ect but also mess around with cars

The honda civic changed alot between 1995 and 1996. They are basically different cars. That said, they are still both hondas and very reliable cars and your dad will be able to perform basic maintenance work on both cars. As far as parts interchangability goes, don't count on it. the honda 1.5 & 1.6 engines take different parts.

all of it quite relies upon what u prefer to do with it. If youre going to construct and artwork on the motor vehicle, flow for the EG (ninety 2-ninety 5). those have a tendency to be a lot less complicated to artwork on. If youre in basic terms searching for a prevalent driver, Get the EK (ninety six-00). both are tremendous automobiles. It in basic terms relies upon on your flavor and what you want. i'd flow with the EG.
