A compound is a group of atoms bonded together in a fixed proportion. And an element is just a simple atom.

a compound is multiple elements chemically combined.
in case you need this, a mixture is multiple substanmces that can be somehow seperated

compounds are made up of the same element

ex
element- 1 helium atom
compound- 2 or more helium atoms (can not be a mixture of different atoms like helium and hydrogen)
