do a goggle search and you'll find the free babelfish. it works fairly well depending on what you're translating. if it's a journal you might find some difficulty with the science words, but those are close enough to the words in english for you to get the jist of what's going on

dict.leo.org or dict.cc are what I use. They are real English-German dictionaries, not stupid simple translators.
