If you need to translate chemical terms and names of substances and the like, it might be a good idea to simply use wikipedia. Just open the page for the term you are looking for in the German wikipedia and then click on the link "English" on the left side of the page which should lead you to the same article in English. Better check the article to see if it really is the same term - but in most cases this works already!

I don't know about Chemistry but www.altavista.com has a thing called Babelfish that translates a lot of languages....good luck!!

www.altavista.com Toward the bottom it will say Babel fish translation. Just click the link and your there, you can translate lots of different languages there.
