Japan (Fukuoka on the big island of Kyushu) is about 180 kilometers from the coast of South Korea. A tiny island named Tsushima (part of Japan) is only about 50 Km away.

Seeing as it's such an expansive two set of points, the distance between Japan and the Asian Coastline (for this answer, it's specifically, S. and N. Korea coastline) is anywhere from approx. 100 miles and 550 miles.

close. it may take less than a day or two by boat. if you want to look online, find the distance between japan and korea's pusan. they seem to be the closes points together.
