I just bought a new battery for my car. The old batttery is no longer in the car. However, the old battery was in a way that the POSITIVE terminal wire had a screw attachment that screwed into the Positive Terminal of the battery. While the NEGATIVE terminal wire had a clamp attached that would be "clamped" onto the Negative terminal of the battery.

Now the new battery i bought has a Positive and Negative terminal that accepts ONLY the screw attachment version of the terminal wires. The Positive Wire screws in fine. The Negative Wire does not because it was meant for a clamp terminal stub....WHAT MUST I DO TO CONNECT THE NEGATIVE WIRE when the wire only has a clamp like apperatus...Must i buy a new terminal wire or can i buy a specific screw that screws into the battery's Negative terminal hole which then in turn the negative wire can clamp onto it?

Please Help!! I confused!

The best way to connect a car battery is to ask your cute neighbor to do it for you!!!! (Works well if you're female).

One of two things. Assuming you want to leave it as is that is.
1. Take the battery back and get one with both types of connections, side and top posts.
2. Get the adapter that will change the post to a clamp type.

But, probably the best thing to do would be put on a new negative cable with the right connection so you won't have the problem again.

You can go to an auto parts store and buy an adapter to screw into the negative battery terminal so you can use your old clamp type cable. That would be the easiest fix.

Maybe I have been watching too much CSI lately but I would say don't do it. It somehow could go wrong and kill one of them and then you will be to blame. Normally I'm all about revenge but like I said it could be from watching too much CSI that's got me paranoid about this. I like the baby Ruth idea though only problem with that is if it clogged the pipes or whatever and needs to be fixed it could come back to you Or post a sign pretending to be the property owner and state that people have been getting chlamydia from the hot tub lately and it is quarantined and anyone who swam in it in the past month should get tested

i own a repair shop, and some one has changed the end on the other one ,it had an adapter on it so it would work like this, you,ll have to get a screw in post adapter to make it work right or change the cable end on it,that would be the best to do its easy done the end cost around 2 bucks, and this will fix it so that both of them do screw in,that's the only choice you have on it now, when you go to the parts store tell them ,and they,ll know what your talking about, good luck,i hope this help,s.

you bought the wrong battery, take it back to the vendor and get the correct one , have them look it up for the right style and amps. date the battery, with a marker. this battery should last 4 or 5 years, after that time it will be spent. most auto stores will also check your charging systems for free.

General Motors huh?

Your best bet is to remove the negative cable and take it to your local auto parts store and get a proper replacement cable.

Anything else you do is asking for problems.

You can convert the negative wire over to a post connection. Just go to orielly's or autozone, they'll have what you need.
