An answer I made a while ago:
"My preferred way to do it: Control Panel / Regional and Language Options / Languages / Details..., then add United States-International, then go into Key Settings... to set up keyboard shortcuts to switch between United States-International and English (United States). While in United States-International, you can do it just by typing ~n."
Of course, that's for typing ñ, not for accents: for accented characters, it's 'a 'e 'i 'o 'u, and for ü you type "u.

If you are using Microsoft Word, use the "Insert" command. Highlight "symbol" and all the letters with accents will come up. HIghlight the one you need and click "Insert" at the bottom. Buena Suerta!

On a PC you need to go to the start menu, then to Run, and type in "Charmap". It will bring up a character map. Search through it until you find what you need. click on it and then click on copy. Go to your document and click where the letter should be in the name or word and paste.
Hope this helps.

Well, Steven F said it best, but instead of typing 'a to make á, for example, you can also use alt+a. Same applies for á,é,Ã,ó,ú,ñ,but not for ü, where you are required to hit "u

Search for the character map on your computer and it will show you how. Its usually under accessories and then system tools.
