I just think it's time for a decent president, regardless of what party he/she belongs to.

It would be great but if you spend much time on this boards you will see how many fruitcake libs and conservatives there are. An independent would have to come from some kind of a party and would be the product of a few attempts to get that much recognition. The independents in the past three decades have been people from fairly small interest groups, like Nader and Perot. I wish we could progress to that point but the political cultists who follow Dems and Repubs around would shout it down.

Independents side with Democrats on most issues. However, if Lieberman were to run for president as an independent I would consider voting for him since most of the Republican candidates are liberal anyway

I would support a third party or independent not as a protest vote but as an effective vote. Careful with 08 because I think something's going to happen and we'll have a change. Independents and third parties get my vote if the duopoly presents a weak candidate. For example, if Tancredo or Paul run for a third party or as a unity ticket, I'd vote for them. And any independents might get my vote too.

Yes! The 2 party system is so corrupted you can't tell one from the other on most issues, because their main motivation is greed.
