I am a licensed lawyer and want to provide legal services in the real estate transaction business. Can I use the term "Realty" in my business name? For example, can I call my business "ABC Realty"?

Um....you're a "licensed lawyer", you want to provide legal services in real estate.....but you don't know the answer to this question?

Many lawyers obtain their Brokers license so that they can do as you wish. In order to have a "realty co" you'll need to have a real estate license.

You may want to consider ABC Real Estate Law.

There are lots and lots of Attorneys with Brokers license. Compared to the bar the state exam is easy.

Best of luck,

I would say to use something that will make you stand out when you branch out nationally so I would not use California in the name at all. I would say to use something like "Premier Properties" and perhaps a slogan such as " the key to your new lifestyle" or if you are getting into the fractional resort and vacation market you could use something like "live the high life without the high price" feel free to contact me by email I actually do marketing for real estate companies nationwide and the company I am with also does training and coaching I would be glad to tell you more and maybe help you build a strong business in nearly no time at all and put you in the national market place almost immediately.

I don't think that would be a good business name...you aren't a real estate agent, you're an attorney & I would think you would rather be identified as an attorney!! I believe "realtor" is a licensed trademark name, you would need a real estate license to call yourself a realtor. I've never ever heard of a real estate attorney using "realty" in the business name.

You said your a lawyer correct? I would not name your business here, no one will end up using you. You must have a lawyer buddy who knows what they are doing. Ask them.
And to answer your question, yes you can use the word realty.

Seems very odd that if you are what you say you are you would be asking a question like this on a web site where the vast majority of participants are aged 8 or younger, or at the very least seem to have the intelligence level of a 6 to 8-year-old.

If you ask them how many candles were on their last birthday cake and they answer you by holding up the fingers on one hand then you should know you are dealing with the wrong crowd.

"How old are you, sweetie?" "I'm thwee."

Realty services would be more appropriate. But there is nothing that stops you from doing this since it is a common word. It isn't trademarked.
