i just had 3 teeth bonded a couple days ago to fix chips etc., and two are nice and smooth looking but the one already looks a tiny bit chipped and not as smooth as the others.
should i call and have them fix it? it's not that noticable just looking at it but i'm worried it could end up hurting in the long run.
also, would they charge me again to get it resurfaced even though they didn't do it right the first time?
anyone with experience with bonding or a dentist's perspective would be very helpful!

the bonding was done with the same stuff used for a filling, it was treated as a filling. not veneers.

Absolutely call and let them know. There is never a charge when one cracks or chips after you've left the office, crown, composite bonding or a veneer, it doesn't matter. Although if it's a veneer or crown, it should be remade, no "patching it up" will ever hold and don't let anyone (to include the dentist) tell you other wise. Cracks will pick up stains faster making it even more noticeable. So if it's noticeable to you and not as smooth as the others, then it's just not right. You are the patient and you are the one who has to live with it. We also don't want to have a unhappy patient walking around showing off a less than perfect smile. Dentist don't work like used car dealers, there is always a guarantee on work done! We've been known to replace crowns after a few years at no charge. Don't hesitate to call and let them get you in to have it checked, most times it just needs to be adjusted and polished a little more. You'll be much happier getting it taken care of now, than having to have it re-done later. Good luck and I hope I've been of some help to you.

In response to your additional information: Then you've had a composite bonding which probably just needs to be smoothed a bit unless you have a very large chip in it, then they will likely replace the whole thing. Quite possibly it chipped because it needed to be adjusted to your bite a little better. It shouldn't take long to repair or replace it and probably won't require you to be numbed up for it either. Good luck.

Unfortunately due do change in the NHS in April 2006 it is very unlikely that you would be able to get these done on the NHS as lab fees alone would cost between £80 & £140 and time factors involved most Dentist are losing out and so are the patients. You can have composite (white) fillings done on your front teeth which can get the same results as veneers but they are more prone to staining so if you do choose this option be aware of how much tea, coffee, red wine you drink and if you smoke this will stain them too.

What do you mean by bonded? Veneers or composites? If it was a composite filling you have then they should be able to smooth it down or fix the chip with more composite resin, if it was a veneer it could be patched up with white composite material, failing that you would need to have the veneer replaced.

Naw, you should be able to tell them what happened, and I'm almost positive that they'll fix it for free. If not, you should ditch the loser penny pinching dentist and find another!
