it's a comfort thing for your dog. it's completely normal. soem animals if taken from their mother to early will attach themselves firmly to their human or a stuffed animal that they find perticularly interesting. my dads dog used to pack one of his t-shirts around in his mouth all day when he was a puppy and my dad left him home. some do eventually out grow it and others never do. in either case it is normal for your dog.

Absolutely. I have pictures of a greyhound I used to have that always has a stuffed flocked bone in his mouth. Some dogs that have a hunting instinct will take a stuffed toy and shake it. I'd rather they do that than to a real animal. Remember that dogs are pack animals and are used to cuddling with their litter mates.

My dog does this all the time. he has to have a certain stuffed animal before he will go to bed. my puppy will actually fall a sleep sucking on the stuffed animal. i asked a vet and she said it is normal for a dog to do that. espically small dogs. so dont worry it is normal.

When I saw your question, even before opening it up, I said to myself, I bet that's a Golden......LOL This is very common in this breed. I've had two and both did this, one male and one female so gender is not the reason for carrying a stuffed animal around. Around the obedience ring, where many goldens show, most of them have a stuffed animal in their crates that they carry everywhere.

My dog LOVES his stuffed animals. he carries them around and sleeps with them too..and its because he spent most of his life in the Shelter that I worked for and he was never allowed to have stuffed animals so when I adopted him thats all I gave him and its the most special thing in the world for him.

This is common. Especially if you only have one dog. Or a large difference in age of the others.
He is just looking for companionship and has choosen a stuffed toy.

Our dog Bailey often finds the biggest stuffed toy he can, then he takes it to a quiet place and takes a nap (with the toy as a head pillow).

Great Danes are one breed that is very fond of their "stuffies". It's comical to see a 130 lb Dane fast asleep with a little pink teddy bear in her mouth.

This is a normal behaviour for dogs. They will often gather their favourite resources (mostly toys) and sleep with them, cuddling them in their paws, or even sleep with them in their mouths.
This is an instinctive behaviour in canines - your dog is perfectly normal for doing it.
