Advertising is easy. Getting buyer's agents to show their clients a for sale by owner home, that is another story. Buyer's agents will hide your listing from their clients.

you'll probably find quite a bit if you (do an Internet) search for things like "for sale by owner"

I would recommend an agent. If your not even sure where to advertise you may want to get one. Finding a spot to advertise is the easy part. If this is causing you trouble, I assure you the rest of the process is not any easier.
