I think something is VERY wrong with my female betta, first, i tried to breed my bettas in a bowl(the male one blew a bublenest) but it didn't work. later that day, my female betta just suddenly relaseing eggs, every 5-10 minutes or so! And then, She JUST EATS THEM! I tried to save some of the eggs by putting them in the male's buble nest, but the male too eats them. WHY IS MY FEMALE BETTA DOING THAT!

Females are well known for eating their eggs. (This why many males kill their mates if the female isn't removed.) The male normally would defend the nest, and take care of the eggs. Sadly the eggs in question were unfertilized. (The eggs get fertilized in the water when the male "squeezes" them out of the female.) As unfertilized eggs just rot, and foul the nest the male will eat them.

PS- You really can't breed betta in a bowl. You should separate the 2, and give them a couple of weeks to recover. In the mean time you've got a lot of reading, and work to do.

In Thailand they do use very large ceramic bowls and vases to breed bettas. However, it has to be very large so if the female needs to get away from the male, she can (the males often will get abusive). It often takes a female betta a day or two to begin to release her eggs (Iike humans giving birth, it's usually isn't something that just happens when you want it to or as fast as you'd like it to), her hormones have to be stimulated by seeing the male. I think you took your female out prematurely so when she was ready to breed, the male was no longer there to fertilize her eggs. The fish know when their eggs are not viable so they eat them (no use wasting good protein) and throwing eggs into the bubblenest won't do anything since they aren't fertilized eggs (and the fish can tell these things). Condition them again for a couple of weeks (give them high protein food twice daily, keep them real clean so they don't develop any illnesses) then try breeding them again but be patient. It isn't unusual for them to take 3-4 days to "get in the mood."

That is not too unusual actually. next time you need to breed them in a 10 gallon or so though. Better than a bowl so that the female can escape from the male when they are through breeding. You can't save the eggs when this happens. They must be released as the fish breed so that they are fertilized by the male. Give it another try after a few weeks of conditioning and they should be just fine.

Most fish eat their own young that is why you need to take the parent bettas out of the tank after the eggs have been layed and place them in different tank until the young hatch. It is not uncommon for parent fish to eat their young it happens all the time.

You might need to seperate them quickly as soon as the female releases eggs. Better yet, put the eggs in a seperate container.

Betas are fiercly territorial. After she lays the eggs you should remove them from the bowl. Give em a different one
