There are a lot of female hip-hop artist.. but unfortunately most of them do not hit mainstream... perhaps the masses would prefer to hear about bling bling.. rather than other issues..
Hip-hop unfortunately is perceived as masculine... I think that will change.. with more artist like Bahamadia.. and Lauren Hill.. I am sure we will reach multiple platinum status before you know it.

They do. Ever hear of Queen Latifah, Fergie, Gwen Stefani and Salt n Pepper? There is also Ms Dynamite (she toured with M&M) among others.
