Find the "My Computer" icon. It will either be in your Start menu or on your desktop, depending on whether you are using the XP or classic start menu. Right click it, then left click on Properties.
Under the General tab, you will see information about your system and the version you are using.
Another way you can do it is to click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then the System Information program. It will give you a more detailed report of which version you are using.

You don't have to worry about that. No matter what version of windows you have you can upgrade to vista. There are different versions of vista which have nothing to do with what you have now. Go to this site below and test your computer and it will tell you if you can run it.

Dosent really matter what version of windows you are running to upgrade. Just go to the Microsoft home page and there should be a test you can run to see if your comp. is Vista capable.

Trust me, you don't want to upgrade to Windows Vista right now.
It will be a headache from the get go..

well and easy way is to go to your control panal, when it opens click on the Help dropdown at top of screen. You should see a "About Windows" click on that and it should tell you what operating sytem you are using and what version of it you are using.
