I prefer to have neighbors with more money..That means services, schools and general neighborhood values will be kept up and I will benefit from my wealthy neighbors.

It depends. When talking about housing values, neighbors with better incomes doesn't imply their houses are going to be nicer, but assuming they are, yes, generally that will help your property value at least a little. Consider that it is essentially a fact though that people assimilate to there surroundings so much that by having neighbors with more income will usually induce you to subconsciously "keep up with the Jones's" by driving nicer cars and doing more expensive things that you can't truly afford like they can. I would prefer to live comfortably within my means but still in a safe, stable neighborhood with great schools and so on, but not feel forced to spend money I don't have on things that my wealthier neighbors take on as part of their everyday way of life.

Your neighbors will be in about the same income category. Normally a person earning $500,000 would not live in a neighborhood where the next door neighbor is earning $50,000 because of the buying ability.

Just as you would not normally find a person earning $2 million dollars per year to reside in a neighborhood of those earning $500,000

So I don't think that you will find a person that is earning substantial more than his/her next door neighbor.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

I prefer no neighbors at all; but I'd like to have neighbors with a lot more money than me so, when I'm short, I can borrow some from them.

A smart answer would be more... unless you are so competitive that everything is a contest to you.

If anything, A richer neighbor would more then likely raise property values in your area. Since they are more likely to build and expand on there homes and add value to them, this will in turn have a postive effect on you.

But mosr rational people shouldnt care much one way or another.

As it turns out my neighbors are pretty close to me in income. I really don't care though.

The best way to make money in real estate is to buy the cheapest home in a good neighborhood. So, yes, more.

I definitely prefer them to have more money. I don't care if they look down their nose at me, at least if someone is going to burgle the area they will pick the houses nicer than mine. (I hope.)
