what kind of advantages and disadvantages does PDF have ?

But you must provide link that your guest could download the reader.
Reconsider making it. Text is better. Pdf is usefull if you want to spread brochure or something like that.
If your site not so interesting, your guest will leave your site when he knows that to open your site is that hard.

Whole lot of sites use pdf files...Main advantage is the size of the file becomes much smaller hence faster uploads and downloads.

Yes, definately! They are much smaller and it PDF's make it harder to copy things from the document.
