Most nitrates are soluble. Cadmium is similar to zinc and does have a soluble nitrate. It does not dissolve in kerosene.

Use a specific gravity bottle. Weigh the CdNo3; put it in the bottle, fill with kerosene to find the volume of the CdNo3.

You will need to measure the density of the kerosene to calculate the result.
