i have already asked this question..but can anyone give me a detailed answer?

Molecules are always moving around in water. When you heat it up, the molecules move faster, so fast that they can break apart and condense into steam. But when you cool it down, the water molecules slow down. When they get to a certain point, they stick together and form ice crystals. If you get a bottle of distilled water and put it in the freezer, it won't freeze right away. When you take it out of the freezer a few days later, it will still be a liquid. When you bang it against a table or shake it up, it will freeze instantly. That's because the water is pure and doesn't have anything to form crystals on. When you shake it, a crystal forms on an air bubble and begins to crystallize.

Liquid water comes to 0degC. The liquid crystallizes to a solid at the same temperature. During the crystallization, the temperature remsains the same. This is because of the latent heat of fusion (or freezing!) of water.The temperature remains the same as the water crystallizes. Crystalline water (water ice) has H...O bond differences (greater) from those in liquid water. They are greater. So water expands as it freezes. Because there is more volume per weight, the density decreases. Because water ice is less dense than the liquid, ice floats.

Heat = Energy, in the absense of heat the water molecules move slower and less excited molecules lose distance and crowd one another and assume a solid like state (Freezing) The less heat energy, the less movement there is and freezing/solidifying occurs
