click start then shutdown and select reboot, bit confused about the cds?

Unless you have a copy of the OS installation disk, or a backup partitions with a factory reset on it. There is no way you can 'reset' your PC. You can reboot your PC by turning it off, then turning it back on... or using the command within your OS to 'Restart'.

Reboot and Reformat are two different things. It sounds as if you're talking about reformatting.
