there's this spray that you can get at places like pet shop, pets smart, those kinds of places right? so get this stuff that cats are REALLY atracted to, its not called cat nit, its something else. its this type of spray thing. so anyways! go get that stuff, and spray it on the scratching post, and ur cat will be atractef to it! some times it takes a while for ur cats to actually NOTICE it and enjoy it, but once ur cat does, its sometimes hard to get him/her off!

p.s. GOOD LUCK! but seriously, try it! IT REALLY WORKS!!!

There are two things you could do. Here they are:
1. Whenever she starts scratching the furniture, immediately take her over to the scratching post. This will take a while but it will work!
2. You could also rub some catnip on the scratching post. She will be able to smell it, but it may not work.
My opinion is to go with number 1.
*Hope I helped*

This might be worth a shot: Whenever you see her scratch at the furniture, pick her up and stick her right next to the scratching post. She should get the idea after a while. Good luck.

Show her how,act out the movement you want her to make, scratch the post yourself. She will soon catch on. Cats respond to stimulus / teaching.

I agree with Hobbes' Mom.
Also...what piece of furniture is your kitty's prefered scratching place? Place the post next to where she likes to scratch now, then when she gets accustomed to using it, gradually move it to where you'd like it.

squirt her with a water spray bottle when she goes near your furniture, and show her praise and play with her while she is at the scratching post
