My Cat will use the pads of her feet and her claws to "paw" at my sliding glass door...this is her way of letting me know when she wants to go in and out. She rarely, if ever, meows about anything.

The neurotic part is she exhibits this behavior 20, 30 or more times a day. In and out, in and out...sometimes she'll want to go out for just a half minute or so.

I'm driven nuts...I've never had a cat that doesn't use her MEOW to communicate. Also, I've never had a cat that goes inside and out so many times per 24 hour period. Neurotic! Please...any suggestions? Anyone going through this?

My kitty is turning 2 years old in May...yes, she's been fixed and has all her shots. Thank you in advance!

I used to have a cat that wouldn't meow... and I have a cat now (named Little One) that rarely -- if ever meows. It's always funny because I have 2 other cats and I know their "voices", but I don't really know Little One's, so it always catches me off guard whenever I hear him.

As far as I know there isn't a way to "train" a cat to be vocal. You gotta accept yours just the way she is.

Meows are usually only when they're unhappy. Our cat signals us by plucking the screen outside the kitchen window when she wants to come in. Hard if you don't let her in the first time.

the only odd one is the 20-30 times a day thing. Our cat goes out 3 or 4 times a day max. Part of that is we have trained her to come in our out and to stay around a bit. That part is up to you to control. refuse to let her out half of the time and she'll learn that it's not going to happen for a little bit and will cut it down. it will not be pleasant at first, and you'll probably get some meows along the way. If you let her out when she does that, she'll meow to go outside.

A doggie door is another idea though, or if you want, they make specialized cat doors nowadays.

In my opinion, you should keep your kitty inside. She may have had all her shots and has been spayed but that doesn't rule out some of the deadliest things that can happen to our pets.

What about cars? Other animals? People? Those could all spell the end of your MEOW-less kitty.

It's kinda funny because you usually hear about people complaining that their cat is TOO noisy but yours is too quiet.

Maybe you could invest in a doggy door she could use if you MUST allow her to go out.

:)

You need to teach her to meow to go out. Don't just get up and cater to her. This his hard for me because my cats meow's have certain meanings. Each meow has it's own meaning and I know what they are for. If there is someone at the door, if they are hungry, if they got sick, they are cute little creatures and can learn so much and communicate with humans if humans will listen and learn there language.

Install a cat door in one of your regular doors (going out to the backyard if that's where you usually let her go out). Some cats aren't very vocal and prefer to use body language to communicate.
