Cats don't have hands!!!

How bad is it burned? Oozing blood and dead crispy tissue?? Then you need a vet.
What you can do (as long as it is not too serious of a burn) is put some aloe gel on it (like for sunburns) make sure it is non toxic and try to not let him lick too much of it off.
If he doesn't seem too bothered by it, such as a little limping/tenderness but not yowling in pain, just leave him be. He can lick it and that will usually help it feel better.

How bad is the burn? This makes a big difference in treatment. If I were you, I would call the after hours emergency service, explain that you are home alone and this is what happened. Have a pen and paper handy to write down any instructions.

Good luck!

Leave your cat alone, the cat will deal with it. Mine jumped into an open oven once when I was putting food inside, I had to fish him out from the back...he tried to hide. he burnt all 4 paws. They are pretty tough critters...He'll be fine and will think twice before trying that move again.

Well right away, put your cats paw underneath the faucit - luke warm water. cold water seems to irritate a burn more. then put some bag balm or anibiotic oitment on it. as soon as you get that done, call the 24 hour help line. then if they say so, take your cat to the vet soon.

If it's not severe, put vaseline on it and a light gauze bandage if he will let you. If there is considerable bleeding or tissue lost, comfort him till you can get to a vet. If it's just a light burn though, just use an antibiotic or vaseline (aloe vera gel will work too), gauze bandage LIGHTLY, and just keep him comfortable. A light burn will heal in a few weeks on it's own, but severe ones need a vet's attention.
