Let me give an example: Should a "green tax" of $1 a gallon be put on gas purchases? Register your vote by ticking the appropriate box.
I'm thinking of some sort of electronic voting system, where the results could be quickly acquired and viewed by Yahoo subscribers.

Polls could be an idea, but given how Yahoo has generally always been unbiased in their content, they'd have to be really careful in how polls are worded. Also, they'd have to have safeguards against people with multiple accounts trying to rig the votes.

Thats a great idea but you would need to control how much goes on there, only current affairs

Anything that can be done electronically can be corrupted.
