I think it's because cats love affection, like anyone else. :)

Head rubbing is the way wild cats pass on scent markings to other members of their family group.

Domestic cats see humans as that family group so mark us.

Two reasons. It itches, and they can't reach it with their claws to scratch. The other reason is because cats mark their scent using their heads to lay claim on a territory or person. Their scent is in their furr, so when they rub their heads on you, you must know you belong to them, and they are declaring personal ownership of you.

A lot of the same reasons as above, but if you read some of these answers you'll see cats cant' get up there. if you say that, you have apparently not seen one do it. they can, and My at does. I have no clue why they don't do it more often, but they tilt their head back and take their hind legs to scratch the top.

they like the attention but don't like there body touched. I can scratch my cats head all day but if I try to pet her back she bites me. She is getting older and use to it now but has her days when you don't touch her

It feels good when you scratch their head and under their ears, cuz thats where they itch more, and where the fleas stay mostly.
