I have 3 cats of my own and one of my kittens used to suckle on my dogs nipples like he as drinking from her. It is basically a comforting thing, but it will become an obsessive behavior, I suggest that you stop it now, don't be mean or anything but just distract him when he starts to do it, and warn new people that he does it and tell them to do the same thing that you do.

it is because the kitten was weaned too early. Kittens typically should not be weaned until 12 to 15 weeks. My oldest cat is two years old. I found her abandoned by her mother (an alley cat) when she was 3 weeks old. She did the same thing for a while, till about seven or eight months, then she stopped. I have a second cat that I just got that is about 20 weeks, weaned at 13 weeks and have not had this with her.

When a kitten is taken away from it's mother too early the kitten tends to look at it's human family as a mother. Your kitten is probably doing this because he looks to you as a mother and feel comforted when he does this. This is a habit that will follow him for the rest of his life if it is not nipped in the bud.

It is probably because you did take it away from it's mom too early and suckling on the earlobes must be like the mothers tit, and it is comforted doing it. If people allow it to do so, it will probably just keep it up like a habit.

THIS is a trait called wool-sucking, its a neurosis that cats who have been improperly weaned experience, there is not much you can do about it, but you can try to transfer the suckin onto another object, like a blanket or stuffed animal. but your stuck with it for the nest 15 or so years..
by the way, wool suckers can be removed form there mom at any time, its about how they were transfered to solid foods, if he was just yanked out of his moms nest and put to solid food thats probably what did it.

He does that cuz he was taken from his Mom too young. There's nothing wrong, he's just searching for a nipple he'll never find. One of my cats does it also. I think it's sweet.
