Trading sexual favours in jail can give you protection from being bashed up. But being willing to perform a 'gay' sex act does not make you gay. It makes you a cunning survivor.

Hell-O!!! It's called masturbation! Any guy or girl who willingly has sex with a person of their own gender in prison has always been gay (maybe so deeply repressed they didn't realize yet!).
