yes, not many things will try to eat a catfish... especially not beta's... not even chichlids will attack catfish... i have raised many beta's and catfish... also, do not put more than one male beta in a tank... they will fight... also, i have had betas in with many varieties of community fish... they get along just fine... sometimes you will get a very aggressive beta and it will pick on the other fish...

Yes, you can put catfishes in with Bettas - both gender of Bettas. Are you putting in a Pleco or a Corydoras catfish?

Sure, just make sure the catfish isn't so large that it will eat the betta. Some small catfish sold for aquariums get really large as they grow.

As long as it is something bigger than a otto it should be fine otherwise the betta will eat it and you'll see a white backbone in the tank.

Yes, the only fish you can't put in the same tank is a male beta with another male bata.

Betta's will challenge other bettas, of course, and other than that, the only problem you could have is other fish nipping at his fins, or he could attack another species of fish that he mistakes for a betta.
