Xylem is a kind of vascular tissue that carries water and dissolved minerals throughout the plant.

Phloem (not phylem) is a kind of vascular tissue that carries food throughout the plant.

Dicots are plants like sunflowers, maples, and beans.
-- Dicots have two cotyledons, also called seed leaves, in the seeds to store food for the developing plant.
-- Dicots have branching veins in their leaves.
-- Dicots have petals and other flower parts in multiples of 4 or 5.

Monocots are plants like grass, corn, and lilies.
-- Monocots have one cotyledon in the seed.
-- Monocots have parallel veins in the leaves.
-- Monocots have petals and other flower parts in multiples of 3.

xylem and phylem are both in a plant cell and the xylem is a vein that carries materials up the cell to leaves i guess and the phylem brings them down. I guess its the wastes. Nd im not sure about the second part so i dont wanna give you the wrong answer sorry.
