Hi there ...toilet training a cat is possible with the Litter Kwitter and I've trained both my house cats using a similar system as well as many clients kitties to use the human toilet. However, it takes a lot of time and patience, therefore someone must be there nearly 24/7 in the beginning and when the litter box is removed during the training process. On average cats who are toilet trained take anywhere between 3 months to 1.5 years depending on age, individual temperament and the techniques used. No one technique works for all cats so people have to experiment to see works best.

Here's a fun video of a cat using the Litter Kwitter system: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2647927142627159521&q=toilet+trained+cat

Some cats who are toilet trained will have accidents around the home because during the training process you have to remove the litter box entirely, which is why it's important to be home full time during this stage of training as well.

I'm not sure we had a Litter Kwitter but it must have been something similar. The cat was always playing on the toilet so I decided to try training him to it. There was this clear plastic insert and you put a little herbs (included in the kit) and [maybe some kitty litter? can't remember now] into the try so the cat began to use it. And each day you took a bit of the litter away so there was less and less. After a week, you started cutting a hole in the tray and each day thereafter, you cut the hole bigger and bigger until there was no tray left and the cat was eliminating directly into the toilet (at which point, you just stopped using the plastic insert altogether). My cat did the whole training thing just fine, a little hesitantly. But the first time his little turds made a splashing sound, he didn't want any part of the whole toilet thing anymore (and this cat LOVED water) so we went back to using a regular litter box. I know other people have successfully trained their cats to the toilet though so give it a try.
