My 1 year old daughter has turned into a monster (well not really) ....over the past month she has started throwing tantrums when she doesnt get her way!!! She will throw herself on the ground and cry!! Also, when we are home SHE ONLY WANTS ME...she cries when my husband or her grandparents try to take her. If I'm not home shes fine with them. I know thats sweet and all, but I need to pee in privacy sometimes!! HELP!

This is not easy.

You need to be very firm with her. If she's starting to have a tantrum you send her to her room and she has to stay there until she calms down.

Don't back down, as this only makes it worse. This is basic operant conditioning, and you need to be as consistent as possible.

First of all, all one year old's go through this. The clinginess comes from separation anxiety and is a normal part of development. Punishing her for it is not an appropriate response and putting a one year old in "time out" like the other answer recommended is pointless as the child will have no concept of why they are suddenly getting put in a room by themselves. The second most important thing to remember is that EVERYTHING is a phase. She will grow out of this behavior as soon as she is able to communicate her needs more effectively. My daughter clung to my leg every minute of every day for about 4 months and then finally let up. It's a phase. Let her.
