This has been the government´s response to the many, many outcries of concerned citizens of South Africa.
With white South Africans (I use this term for overseas people, most South Africans, who I know, like to be refered to as South Africans, and not "white" South Africans or Europeans, or 2nd or 3rd generation Europeans etc.) being the major recipient of crimes it is obvious who the government is referring to, when it says leave the country. Is there a subtle movement to get the "white" South Africans out, but done slowly and covertly so as not to alarm the overseas community and scare off investors?
What do you think? Let me know, thanks everybody.

Doesn't sound a very helpful response. Either they don't want to/don't know how to tackle the problem, or you are right about the subtle movement to get the whites out. I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe they feel the whites have served their purpose...
What a shame. I have (white) relatives who were born there, whose parents emigrated there in the 1940s and worked hard & ran a business, but have recently felt compelled to leave & come 'back' to a country they don't feel is home.

Well if it was as easy, as just leaving, just because we don't like it then I can with all honesty say that is what most "white" South Africans will do. For young South Africans it's quite easy to get out, if you have the right degrees to your name. And yes for me If I got the chance to leave SA I would do so without a second thought. I'm very much in love with Singapore it feels so wonderful to be able to walk around anytime of the day or night and not having to fear for your life. Not having to hold on extra tight to your handbag and cellphone.
South Africa is a beautiful country with beautiful landscapes with alot of friendly and loving people it's just a pity some of the people in SA makes it what it is today. A country ruled by crime and fear. Where corruption takes a lead.
Don't get me wrong everyone and everything in SA is not bad but sometimes it's really hard to see the good!

We have left. After being born in SA and having lived there for 33 years while actively contributing to the economy, I decided that there is no future for my son there.
At one point I actually employed around 20 people, all from disadvantaged backgrounds. I think I have done my part for the country. My payback? I couldn't even get the money SA Revenue Services owed me on the last tax claim I completed while living there.
Well guess what, I make a point of telling EVERYBODY I meet in Europe about the incompetent, corrupt SA government. How they are abusing their powers to the detriment of those who can least afford it. And you know what, being in a senior management postition in a multinational company this means the word gets out to people in high circles!
I think the SA government is actually too stupid to be subtle. They are merely riding the wave of wealth created decades ago, but they are nearing the beach and will soon be stranded. The investment flow will soon not even cover the resources lost by skilled people leaving SA en masse.

Yes I think the message is obvious. SA is now more racially divided than it was under the previous government - when most people at least had jobs.
The current government is racist and I want to suggest that the current 'crime wave' is nothing else but government condoned terror. They are not going to do anything effective about it because to do so would upset their voter base.
I have just returned to UK after a 3 week visit to SA to see my family and wherever I went, airport, shops, restaurants etc, I never saw a white face amongst employees.

Sadly, as a long term resident of London, I have been privy to some of feelings that White South Africans have about their own country in
(voluntary) exile. Many of them simply exhibit the kind of racist attitudes that, once upon a time, they could espouse openly in their own country. What they must realize is that Aparthied was an abomination and that no amount of crime can mitigate a wish to return to the past.
South Africa is a society in transition, and while nobody wants to live with crime, we must all look to the future for solutions, not the past.

i think of you have illustrated/painted a sturdy image right here and in some procedures I accept as true with you. South Africans regularly are feeling of their on a regular basis existence what number of human beings experience concerning the happenings in this very talk board interior the final week or so. I see a frustration and South Africans is variety of a stress cooker that has construct up steam and able to blow up. there are maximum of subject concerns that reason this. we could desire to consistently handle will advance in nutrition costs, gasoline costs, sluggish financial advance and the crime element. we verify out government and ask, WHY!? Silence and denial is all we get. I mentioned many situations that understand and tolerance is going a protracted way. i do no longer could desire to accept as true with you or any ANC supporter or participant right here yet my strikes in direction of fellow contributors or fellow South African could desire to be of such that i'm respected for my own believes. one element that I even have endorsed in the past and a few thing which I nonetheless say is 'attack the question and not the guy'. you're able to have heated debates and convey your thoughts with out being own. that's my view which i'm no longer afraid to state openly. i will purely call for sanity and my attraction to truly everyone seems to be to furnish one yet another the hand and say adequate is adequate. I mean, we can't proceed like this!. that's a shame and as Christians, we could desire to consistently experience ashamed of ourselves. can i attraction to truly everyone to convey this talk board returned to what it grow to be. that's great debating yet no longer this combating and mistrust among us.

To be honest I think your theory is ridiculous (I am being polite in my choice of words) as the VAST majority of victims of crime are ..... BLACK and the highest crime rates are in traditionally black areas.
Having said that, only an idiot cannot recognise that crime, together with unemployment are the two most pressing social issues of the country and the "you should leave" response to complaints about crime is bordering on criminal lunacy.
P.S. To contextualise my response: I am a black South African that is passionate about his country and voted for the ANC. This does not however mean that the government has my unqualified support and I reserve the right, a right we fought for for decades, to criticise whoever is in power when they act irresponsibly.
