I work in a company which involved in installation of telephone equipments.

Metal parts such as casings must be earthed to prevent them from becoming "live" and electrocuting somebody if touched. If a live wire touches an earthed surface then all the current flows to ground with little resistance and a fuse will blow almost instantly.

When working with electronic components i.e. circuit boards, memory chips etc, the worker must be earthed to prevent a build up of static (from clothes or furnishings) causing damage to the components.

No earth for electrical equipment then if there is any electrical fault with item it could pass to earth through an unfotunate person who touches it - and may even result in death!

Earthing electrical components means that in the event of a short circuit instead of killing people the electricity will go straight to earth,electric always takes the easiest route.

it means having another cable and using it as a ground it case a ligthning hit youre home. the current generated by the ligthning will be directed in to the ground instead of youre aplpiances.

so electric runs to earth and dosnt give you a shock or blow the equipment
