If the *67 doesn't work, here's one surefire way to do it.
Go to the Dollar Tree and buy one of their calling cards. They are one dollar for 35 minutes, and can be used for long distance, too. Dial their toll-free access number, then the PIN for that card. Then enter the number you're trying to call anonymously- untraceable.

*67 will block the number you are dialing from. It will show up as private caller on whom ever your calling's phone.

wrong eggman it still can be traced, it just takes that much more effort. More than the average Switch Tech will want to do. Jayna is right *67 but it still can be traced
