There are many possibilities. Too many to list.
Most likely causes that I can think of are:
1. Fuel filter is clogged and not allowing consistent fuel pressure.
2. Dirty Injectors
3. Vacuum leak
4. Fuel pump going.

Do not run premium fuel if your vehicle does not require that you do. Why dont you try something standard like some fuel injector cleaner bu LUCAS. Premium gas has no more additives than regular it only has a higher octane rating which mean that it ignites slower that regular for high compression applications. And if you have been running premium fuel change to regular. Also maybe bring it in for a little maintanence.

Dirty fuel injectors is likely. You can either try a few tank fulls of premium gas with cleaning packages. You could also buy fuel additives.
If that doesn't help, I would take it to a mechanic for a tune up. They might need to replace the fuel filter or spark plugs.

drop a bottle of concentrated fuel injector cleaner into the tank, I recommend Regane. It's a yellow bottle, costs about $6.
You also might want to see the last time you had a tune up and also have checked your mass air flow sensor. if the heater wire gets dirty, all the mentioned symptoms can occur as well.

yeah here the answer you wont like it you have a bad fuel injector probably number 1 to check try to turn on ac at idle if problem starts you got it other than that it could be slightly out of time or a bad serpentine belt or a lose tightener pulley where the serpentine belt is if it a 2.2 liter then I would get rid of it or check for recalls on that engine as I had a 2.2 and it had more recalls than I care to talk about

I would think its the Throttle positioning sensor becoming faulty. also I would take your TB off and give it a good cleaning and might want to replace your IAC as that also control your idle. I would try this before messing with your fuel system. know alot of Dakota owners that have wrote of this problem and most times it was the TPS.

you may have a clogged fuel filter, faulty fuel injector, bad fuel pump, the list goes on. the problem is running along your fuel system. is the check engine light on? if it is, take it to an auto parts store and have them pull the code. it could even be your computer. in any case, start with the fuel filter first. it's the cheapest. good luck
