There is not enough difference in any comparably equipped trucks to place one as better than another in any manner other than personal opinion. One brand may have a slight edge in one aspect but will be weaker in another aspect.
You should look at both and even test drive both. Decide from your opinions as to which you actually want. I have a Ford, but also looked at the Dodges before buying.
The comfort part is very subjective. Many people swear that Toyotas are comfortable, but I do not like the feel of the seat myself.
Not to be a smarty pants, but you may want to do much more research before buying. Make sure you are getting something that you will use. I say this because you ask if a Ram 3500 is good for hauling bricks and wood.
A Ram 3500 or F-350 is a whole lot of truck, and is usually the type of truck that big contractors or livestock owners will use. The amount of wood and bricks they would haul is very high. They also will cost much more than a Ram 1500 or F-150 (which can also haul wood and bricks, maybe not as many). The Ram 1500 or F-150 is more along the lines of the type of truck that a person doing a little remodeling around the house or building a deck might use.

For just a 1/2 ton ordinary truck, I would choose Ford. But since you need a ton truck, the Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel is still unbeatable. Plenty of power and you'll get great mileage when empty.

I own a Dodge, and my Dad has owned many in the past and has a 3500 now. It is a big comfortable truck, it has the 360 in it and is strong. I have owned a F-150 in the past and it was a great truck.... this is a hard decision... but I would take the Dodge....

I'm a Dodge fan, But I ended up with a Ford. From now on, I will only buy Ford Trucks. It all depends on what the truck is being used for.

It relies upon on what you seek for in a truck. I merely bought a 2005 circumvent Ram 1500 on Friday. I drove comparable Ford and GM vans and felt that the Ram suitable my tastes greater powerful. indexed right here are my thoughts on each and all of the vans I drove. understand that those are all previous era vans, the main present day era could experience quite diverse. They have been all customary cab/short mattress vans with 4X4. Ford: The Ford F150 I attempt drove grow to be a 2006 XLT with the 5.4L V8. It felt the main significant. It had an somewhat sturdy and sophisticated feeling that the Ram and GM twins merely did no longer have. It additionally had the quietest indoors and the terrific construct high quality. although, all that refinement and sound deadening comes at a value, the F150 is critically heavier than a Ram 1500 or Silverado 1500. It wasn't sluggish, even though it did no longer have the %.-up that the GM and circumvent vans have. The Ford truck grow to be additionally the main high priced truck I drove by skill of a significant margin, they do carry their value somewhat properly. Ford vans additionally score the terrific in reliability comments. circumvent: i bought a 2005 Ram 1500 SLT 4X4 with the 5.7L Hemi. It grow to be the flexibility king of the vans I drove. The GM and Ford vans do exactly no longer study to the quantity of stress the Hemi moved this truck with. I additionally theory it grow to be the terrific looking truck. The Ram had the main quantity of room in the back of the seats for storage and the mattress had the terrific tie-down hooks. It grow to be additionally the terrific deal. i presumed it rode greater powerful than the GM vans, however no longer somewhat as properly because of the fact the Ford. GM: I attempt drove a 2006 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L V8. This grow to be the least acceptable of the vans I drove. It felt the main inexpensive of each and every of the vans. It had the main street noise, the main wind noise, and it did no longer experience as solidly outfitted because of the fact the circumvent and Ford. It additionally wasn't as properly theory out because of the fact the circumvent and Ford, the two certainly one of which had a lot greater helpful aspects to lead them to greater clever. It did experience swifter than the Ford, however that has greater to do with the Ford's heft than engine power. on the plus facet, it does score greater powerful than the Ram in reliability comments, however no longer somewhat as properly because of the fact the Ford.

id go with the ram fitted with a cummins.the cummins will outpull a powerstroke any day ( why do u think theyre so popular at sled pulls ) the old magnum series engines worst trait was fuel consumption, but reliability was unquestioned. those that had problems had to be doing something that they shouldnt have been doing.which frankly would affect any manufacture of engine.you didnt say if you were intending to load everything onto the bed,or if you were going to pull with a trailer, but for my money a cummins fitted ram is the best solution

The Cummins diesel is easily beaten down by the Chevy Duramax (Isuzu made). I personally like the Cummins better than the Powerstroke though. I've never had any luck with Ford products.

i'm going with the dodge! personally I love chevys and I despise fords. But I had a '94 dodge with over 220,000 miles on it and it still ran great. they're very durable, long lasting trucks. I sold the truck to my cousin and he's still driving.

I would go Dodge, because then you can pick a good engine, if your going to tow or need power go Diesel and if you want a good street truck go Hemi! You cant lose.
