We stayed at 3 different hotels in Manila, Hotel Intercontinental, Traders Club and Pan Pacific. The Pan Pacific Deluxe room was the best, very good service and a great view of the city. There's also a very nice pool and Jacuzzi on the 7th floor and a really good breakfast. Worth the money for the 3 day deluxe room deal...

I've stayed in Ermita/Malate area last time. Very central to nightlife and BayWalk area.

I've also stayed in Makiti. Not great there, but good for business.

The BEST are probably the Hyatt or Pan Pacific in Malate. They are not cheap - USD 150+.

really depends on what you want to do while in manila. if seeing nightlife, then stick with areas in manila near to the bay (ermita). if business, then stick to makati, if shopping or mall hopping, ortigas center or the part of makati that is nearer to edsa.
