I have a 2000 Durango that has a sticker under the hood that indicates it came factory equipped with a remote start device.I also have the factory key FOB's but bought the car used. If it indeed has the remote start, how do I work it? Could the FOB's need reprogramming?

The 2000 Durango had remote key-less entry available by no Chrysler product up to 2005 as to my knowledge was equipped with remote ignition switches. There were lots of after-market installers putting them in almost anything, and still do. The Factory remot for a 2-K model should be a slightly rectangle shape with a couple of buttons if memory serves and can be programmed inside the car.

Mike is right. Remote key less is as close as they got back then. The only thing that u can change are your alarm preferences. Such as how Meany chirps u hear when u press the unlock / lock, button or weather the parking lights flash or not and how long the interior lights stay on after, u lock the car. On some models with the over head console u can even program your garage door opener. U do not have to go to the dealer. Unless lose or need to reprogram a new fob. The rest can be done by reading and fallowing the instructions in your owners manual. Hope this helps.

There is no factory remote starter on the durango. I'm sure it's after market.

The factory key fobs can be used to control the remote start, if it's still working and it was programmed to do so when the remote start system was installed.

try the following combinations with the vehicle locked and standing within 50 ft of the front of the truck:

1. lock, lock, lock
2. lock, unlock, lock
3. unlock, lock, lock
4. lock, lock (rare but i've seen it)

There may be other ways, but in my experience, these are the most popular, and typically work if the system is working properly.
