I love Yes, and I love Jon solo, particularly Three Ships, a Christmas album, and Promise Ring which has an Irish twist on it, and In the City of Angels, a pop record, very smooth.
Re: Yes, also check out Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, if you don't know about them. It was four band members ready for a tour and their was a legal glitch with using the band name so they did this quartet thing for a single album. Lots of the material is polished up versions of material from Steve Howe's Homebrew which I think there were TWO of those.
All the band members have done astonishing work on their own. All virtuosos. It's no wonder when they play together that they bring the house down. I passed out at a Yes show from pure overwhelm.
Big Yes fan here. For about 20 years now. And that isn't bad, considering I'm only 38 and they were "too old" for my generation. Personally, I like the "Yes West" stuff. Big theatrical sounds, grand lyrics, less frenzy and chaos. My fav album of theirs is definitely The Ladder.
