Download & install this free tool :

The PC Timer 4.0 by Buffalo Software
http://www.criticalfiles.com/free/shutdown-timer/5.html

It will perform a timed automated shutdown of the PC. I assume you have a secret dministrator passowrdon the PC so that they don't simply restart Windows again.

For a complete solution to supervised & contolled PC usage (including web browsing on quesyionable sites) I suggest you consider purchasing software like Net Nanny :

Putting your kids in the care of Net Nanny allows you to:

Protect your children from viewing adult websites
Stop pop-ups, especially those with inappropriate content
Block chat programs, a favored tool of online predators
Stop illegal file sharing
Protect your personal information
Stay a few steps ahead of predators with monthly updates

I really don't think you can limit time to a specific user. To be sure, you might want to check the support section at www.windows.com.

The only way I know of to make a computer shut off automatically, is setting up your advanced power options. That would only shut it down after so much time of inactivity though.

There may be utility programs that could have the ability to do. Check www.downloads.com for that.

Yes you can.
Step 1. Go to control panel.
Step 2. If your computer is on Category View click on the left where it says switch to Classic View.
Step 3.Click on power options and click the tab to turn off the moniter.
Step 4.Make sure you put the timer on the hard drives as well that way they can't just turn on the moniter after that.
Step 5.Enjoy

You can program it to turn off after it sits there for a few minutes. It called the Power Saving feature. However, there is no consumer program that will turn it off after a few minutes like a coin-operated rocking horse. You're simply going to have to follow through and turn it off yourself. They will have to learn the boundaries.

Maybe you should reword the question and post it in the parenting section for better advice? That's what I would do.

Yes you can.
Step 1) Go to control panel.
Step 2) Click on Power Options
Step 3) Change the options to anything you like.

You also might want to make 1 account and make the password for it by yourself.

set a timer for the amount they are allowed to be on. when it goes off that means they get off immediettly. if they don't take away the computer for a day or so. if it happens repeatedly make them prove to you that they can use the computer correctly. they can do this by doing chores or something.

ps. you might want to keep the timer in view. so they don't change it and give themselves more time!!

hope this helps.

Don't leave the disipline up to a computer program, get a handle on your kids, when you say enough they should turn the damn thing off, if they don't then no program is going to help you.
