Personally I think people don't vote for third parties because they don't know what is out there. What do you think?

Nader and the Green Party never put up good numbers... the real third party killer in History would have to be Ross Perot and the Reform Party... he took like %15 of George Bush's votes. There will always be a third party around to ruin someone... it's inevitable. However, I also feel that people should vote for what they believe in regardless of whether or not their candidate can win. People who say they're independents and vote for a major party are actually just members of that respective party who don't want to admit it. As if they're taking "The lesser of two evils" when anyone with logic would realize they're just committing to a position that will hurt a third party's chance in future elections.

people don't vote for a third party because the majority of Americans don't understand the two party system let alone 3 , after all they are both funded by the same people

Sometimes they think they are wasting thier vote (92 perot got Clinton Elected) But mostly I think that a lot of people vote as they are fed. I personally studied about ten parties in my twenties and became a libertarian, although I'm in the GOP now. Not because of the ability to win, but because of changing beleifs on Social issues.

i'm heavily thinking it. i ask your self what number of human beings do not because they imagine they could be assisting the different guy win. imagine in the journey that all of them did it besides. i idea i'd vote Bob Barr (even besides the undeniable fact that I hate his moustache) or writing in Ron Paul. ask your self if there are quite some others taking into consideration doing a similar ingredient? DAR: I did some checking and placed this: "How do we tell human beings now to not write in Ron Paul in November? In just about each state, write-in votes are literally not counted except the candidate has a) registered as a write-in candidate, and/or b) the version between the first- and 2d-position applicants' type of votes is below the range of write-ins. I see any such tremendous type of folk on line say, "i'm nonetheless writing in Ron Paul," without understanding (or perchance worrying) that their write-in vote will neither remember nor reported to the media." right it truly is what Ron says: "I don’t imagine that’s very powerful. Supporters can do it, obviously, yet in a few of the states it gained’t count number. And in the journey that they can substitute the guidelines in a first and in no way count number all the votes, imagine what they could do with write-in votes!" It sucks. i quite opt for to deliver the message that he's the guy i opt for. yet when no man or woman will understand, what's the point?

I think that third parties can't win and were the reason Bush was elected in 2000 (Nader). I have voted third party as a protest when it was obvious it wouldn't effect the outcome of the election (Reagan vs Carter)

We know whats out there. The two main parties are the only winners . Any third choice is probably wasting your vote. Ross Perot cost the republicans the white house but he never had a chance. Too many Republicans wasted their vote on Perot and it cost them.

For the most part you are right

A lot of people confuse the names this one guy just got some votes because his name was the same as the other politicians, and others just vote for the cool party name
