I have reached a point in my life where I have to decide between taking it slow and being happy with friends and family or going strong, changing things and making myself into what I have always wanted to be. My question is, at the end of the day is it worth it? And what do you think is more predominant in our society, career or family?

I'd go with the career. I don't know what kind of profession you're looking at, but there's always time for things if you prioritize properly. I'm an attorney, make good money and still have plenty of "me" time. The importance is finding a job that you can do that. Could I be making half a mil a year? Probably, if I wanted to put myself on fast track for partner at a big firm. Do I want to work 100 hours a week at the expense of everything else? Never. And I made that clear when I interviewed, I think you create what becomes predominate in your life.

Having said all that, in the end, I think any sacrifices you have to make to establish yourself in your career are worth it. It pays off in the long run. Go for it, girl

Carpe Diem! Seize the Day....be what you what and don't wait a second! You will be happier and your family and friends will see that. You will be stronger and make a better friend and attract those who are like you.....
In our society, men with career, women with family although more women are now choosing careers for longer periods of time.

Most American women are trying to have both.
It's not easy, if you already have children then you should raise them and then go for the carreer. If not, give the career five years - if you are not where you want to be then it's time to start the family direction.

On your death bed you will never say, "I wish I had spent another day at the office."
Do what's in your heart, but know that eventually you may want a family. At some point you have to make that decision.
