Perfectly safe and, no, nobody will chase you if you don't upload tons of files (otherwise, they'd be after half of mankind). Of course, needless to say you should always have your antivirus updated (I reccomend Antivir - free - if that's of any use). In that case, if you're downloading some file and it contains a virus, which I'm sure will be some fishy .exe - but not all .exes are fishy cause I've downloaded some that are perfectly fine - you'll be warned and immediatelly stop the download. Even so, I always check my files before I open them, which is only wise. So....... use Limewire wisely and you'll be just fine.

Limewire is safe if you download it from the correct site
i.e Not a fake phising site

http://www.limewire.com

Also don't worry about beeing caught as Limewire is not illegal to download or use - just full of viruses and key loggers. That right hackers can gain password from using Limewire - thats why I highly recommend you don't use it.

It is however illegal to upload your own music.

Legally, you can't be sued for downloading, only uploading.
at least, that's how I heard it was resolved.

As per limewire: Get what you need, then close it, you'll be fine.
Also, avoid .exe's there.
